Recovery Support Specialist, IOP

We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $25.89 to $27.39 and is commensurate with experience.

The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for delivering Recovery Support Services to clients undergoing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment within the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) clinic. This role includes providing case management and facilitating Recovery Support Services (RSS) groups in alignment with the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) guidelines. The Specialist will utilize automated, billable recovery services to support residents participating in SUD programming.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; 5-7 years experience in case management with experience providing documented billable services in addiction treatment. Must have at least 1 year of experience using ECW, Credible, or some other automated billing service.

Required License/Certification: CPR and First Aid certification, Valid Drivers license

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week)

Expected Contributions: Program Administration

  • Ensure that Recovery Support Services are billed appropriately. Able to assess and create a recovery support plan. Able to create fluid person-centered documentation using
  • S.O.A.P format.
  • Identify program opportunities to provide direction, oversight, and leadership in program development redesign and implementation; support program initiative for expansion and
  • improvement.
  • Work collaboratively across teams within SOME and network with outside agencies to ensure appropriate and necessary recovery support services
  • Coordinate programs with the DC Department of Behavioral Health staff. Submit paperwork to DBH and into the Client Health Record.
  • Provide group services for residents in Recovery Support Services.
  • Maintain all required documents and input information into ECW, DBH database system
  • Provide weekly individual services for residents in RSS

Case Management

  • Assess and interpret client eligibility guidelines for enrollment into the SUD program to recruit, qualify, and enroll eligible residents; manage caseload and monitor
  • participation.
  • Identify and establish resources to develop customized plans and coordinate services for residents in Recovery Support Services.
  • Independently and effectively communicate verbally and in writing residents' progress and participation in the program to the supervisor.
  • Monitor all recovery support service groups to ensure groups are well run, organized, and engaging.
  • Coordinate programs with the DC Department of Behavioral Health
  • Assist residents in Recovery Support Services to develop recovery goals
  • Provide ongoing skilled group facilitation according to the need

  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of case management approaches

  • Problem-solving and decision making
  • Ability to multi-task, despite competing priorities
  • Ability to complete and maintain documentation based on program requirements, following established guidelines and time frames.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations

Reports to: Clinical Director, IOP

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit or stand for long periods
