Behavioral Health Consultant (LICSW or LPC)

SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $95,160.00 to $100,638.70 and is commensurate with experience.

The Behavioral Health Consultant utilizes the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model to provide behavioral health assessments and brief interventions to patients referred by Medical and BHS; and promotes care integration between Medical, Dental, and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Programs.

Required: Master's Degree in Social Work; LICSW or LPC; 3-5 years experience providing services in addiction treatment and mental health; experience providing services to underprivileged populations.

Required License/Certification: LICSW or LPC by the District of Columbia Department of Health; CPR/First Aid certified

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week)

Expected Contributions:

  • Conduct assessments and brief interventions for behavioral health conditions in primary care by Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) Model
  • Accept same-day referrals from medical providers
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions to assist clients in creating behavior change plans
  • Follow up with patients when appropriate, or recommend follow-up with PCP
  • Train new medical providers on the use of the PCBH model
  • Coordinate and communicate with medical staff regarding patient care
  • Document, track, and report on BHC interventions, including pre and post-measures of patient wellness whenever possible
  • Provide training and supervision to interns in the PCBH model as assigned; provide clinical supervision to social work interns and LGSWs if eligible

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: .

  • Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Experience with or ability to learn brief interventions for behavioral issues in primary care
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced primary care environment
  • Collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Problem-solving skills

Reports to: SVP, Health Services

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit or stand for long periods
