Senior Case Manager

Department: The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Building
Location: Washington, DC

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a Senior Case Manager to supervise Family Services Case Managers and the Program Assistant that work in our Weinberg House! The ideal candidate will enjoy the autonomy to oversee case management and programming for the head of household and their family members. We believe that we can break the cycle of homelessness by developing relevant family plans and appropriate goal setting. This position is conveniently located by the Union Station and NoMA metro stations. 

Position Description: The Weinberg House Senior Case Manager is responsible for overseeing the case management and programmatic functions of the site. Key provider of staff development and evaluation, overseeing case management plans and developing programs for adults and youth. Partners and works collaboratively with community resources for housing, employment, substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, training, and makes referrals as appropriate.

Qualifications: 

Required: Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 2+ years of case management experience and supervisory experience. 

Preferred: Experience working in a residential setting. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care
  • Knowledge of resources for families to include but not limited to: mental health, substance abuse, and housing
  • Curriculum development, instructional design, and training facilitation skills
  • Ability to develop and run reports from database software
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Case Management skills
  • Supervisory skills 
Expected Contributions: 
  • Program Management: Responsible for oversight and support of the case management program. Ensures program effectiveness and client outcomes.  Responsible for providing case management. Ensure necessary follow-up, referrals, and documentation are completed in a timely manner.  Ensure strength-based practice is fostered within the program and modeled during case management sessions. Provides oversight of Program Assistants and youth services program. Ensuring structure and a safe environment for the children. Provides guidance on activities, curriculum, educational and social development initiatives. Responsible for tracking, reporting and communicating program effectiveness by documenting clear and reliable program reports, outcomes success stories and statistics. 
  • Supervisory: Contribute to strategy development and strive to improve department functions and performance. Assist in development of standards and goals as appropriate. Submit administrative paperwork to Human Resources, Finance, Compliance, and CQI. Ensure compliance with all funding streams as it relates to case management program. Provide regular feedback on performance, monitor individual performance, conduct performance evaluations, and take steps for performance improvement as needed.
