Program Manager

Department: Barnaby-Chesapeake House
Location: Washington , DC

SOME is hiring for a Program Manager to be able to provide compassionate leadership and oversight of one of our Family Services programs. The incumbent must be sensitive to the plight of our residents and have a passion for mental health supportive services. This an exciting opportunity for someone that wants work with a team of energetic and solution focused staff members. We offer generous PTO, sick leave, and work life balance. 

Position Description: Oversees daily House operations and staff. Creates a healthy and welcoming environment for families to live and reach their goals. Leads staff and organizes resources to meet program mission.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am- 5pm (3 days) and 11:30am- 8pm (2 days); occasional weekend events.


Required- Bachelor's Degree; 3-5 years of experience in social services; experience providing services to families; previous supervisory experience; CPR/First-Aid, CPR for Infants

Preferred- Master's Degree; 5-10 years of experience in social services; experience providing services to low-income families; experience with housing programs; 2+ years of previous supervisory/management experience 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for motivational enhancement theory and understanding of MET interviewing and career counseling. Able to apply Motivational Interviewing when working with residents.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service and individualized services. Aptitude to understand resident's needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of clientele behavior and dynamics and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of creative and effective problem-solving skills with ability to draw conclusions, evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, trauma substance abuse disorders, program population and homelessness.

Expected Contributions:

  • Case Management: Responsible for the family goal planning process and ensure accurate assessment of family issues. Responsible for the provision of case management services utilizing the strength-based perspective and integrating motivational enhancement theory and practice in individual family goal plans. Complete and review case notes and develop case management reports.
  • Program Management: Contribute to the strategic development and strive to improve program functions and performance. Assist in the development of program vision, assess, evaluate and oversee program goals and outcomes for families. Oversee and perform all compliance with funding sources. Ensure the coordination of necessary follow up, monitoring and tracking of service outcomes. In addition, monitor and evaluate levels of care and adjust services based on progress.  
  • Supervisory:  Contribute to the budget development, and use sound judgment to leverage resources in accomplishing department goals; administer budget and comply with SOME financial reporting requirements. Maintain professional documentation and ensure the program is in compliance with SOME CQI standards. Monitor and provide opportunities for team building and ensure efforts are being implemented to increase employee morale.
