Senior Vice President, Individual Philanthropy Officer

We are seeking a Senior Vice President, Individual Philanthropy Officer to lead our organization's efforts in cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors. The ideal candidate will develop strategies to engage donors at all levels and secure philanthropic support for our mission and programs.

The Senior Vice President, Individual Philanthropy Officer is responsible for (1) overseeing and facilitating individual philanthropy, i.e. major gifts, planned gifts, mid-tier giving, monthly giving, and direct mail programs; (2) managing donor portfolios and supporting the CDO, CEO, and COO on key funding initiatives; and (3) collaborating with the Development Department and program teams to promote a culture of philanthropy and to advance SOME’s mission.

Required: Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience in non-profit fundraising

Preferred: Bachelor's degree, 8-10 years experience in demonstrated successful major gifts development and management

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Hybrid Option (2-3 days per week in office); some evenings and weekends are required. (40 hours per week)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of fundraising databases; specifically, Every Action and Moves Management
  • Strategic thinker
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with demonstrated fundraising ability.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze donor research.
  • Flexibility and talent as a team player and as a strong individual contributor
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to speak effectively in public.
Environmental Working Conditions: This position is in an office setting. This office may or may not include individual heating and air conditioning controls. This office may or may not include a window. The position requires travel to external meetings and events and the ability to work evening and weekend hours for events and department operations.

Expected Contributions: Fundraising Responsibilities and Management
  • Develop and implement strategies for individual philanthropy, such as portfolio management, prospect pipelines, and donors. stewardship and giving circles, annual fund renewals, capital campaigns, restricted funding, and endowments. Assessing progress, in coordination with the Data Manager, and revising plans as necessary.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift donors as prospects and ensure proper structural support for the Individual Philanthropy Team as well as the CDO, CEO, and COO or program leads.
  • Lead direct- and cross-marketing efforts for planned to gain coordination with the Marketing & Communications Team, cultivation of prospects, stewardship of intended planned gift donors, and receipt of legacies.
