Night Monitor (Part-Time)

We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a part-time Night Monitor for our Single Adult Housing location on R ST in NW Washington DC.

Position Description: Maintains facility security during off hours and provides upkeep of the facility and maintenance activities to provide a comfortable, clean, and dignified home for residents. Performs light cleaning of buildings and grounds and provides light facilities maintenance.

Covid-19 Considerations: In alignment with DC Health, COVID-19 vaccinations, and boosters are mandated for personnel working in SOME’s healthcare-designated programs, which currently include Medical, Dental, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services (BHS), Exodus House, Jordan House, Kirwan House, Kuehner Place, Leland Place, and Mary Claire House. Requests for a medical or religious exemption will be considered for reasonable accommodation.

Schedule: Friday 4:00 pm-11:00 pm & Saturday 10:00 am-11:00 pm (20 hours a week)

Required: Some High School education; 1-3 years experience in security, residential, and/or janitorial experience

Preferred: HS Degree/GED; 3-5 yrs. janitorial experience; experience providing services to low-income populations, families, and seniors; Driver's License

Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid

Expected Contributions:

Safety Management: Supervise and circulate the building. Maintain a visitors log and record any usual incidents or violations.

Program Management: Perform resident drug and alcohol testing as assigned. Participate in scheduled building meetings.

Community & Maintenance: Provide cleaning as needed to common areas, bathrooms, lounges, kitchens, etc.

Reports to: Program Manager

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.
